Weekly Feature: Lacey of Lost World Expedition

In 2009 my partner and I sold most of our worldly belongings and set out to drive from California to Ushuaia in our Landcruiser with the vague plan of accomplishing this in a year. We ended up spending 4 1/2 incredible years exploring Mexico, Central and South America, including the Amazon Region, Venezuela and Brazil. Upon shipping our truck back to the US we began plans for our next adventure. In 2015, we flew to Europe and bought a little Sprinter van named Wanda in Germany and spent the next two years exploring Europe, Eastern Europe, Turkey and Morocco.

I’m originally British, grew up in Mexico and I’ve been living in Costa Rica for over 36 years. My mixed culture and having lived abroad has given me a different outlook on life compared to others in my home country. As a single empty-nester I re-discovered my love for the outdoors, for beaches, mountains, just being outside.

I'm a Registered Nurse with incurable wanderlust. I write a blog with my husband about ethical and off the beaten path travel, and overlanding is a big part of that! I just returned from a women-only expedition across Southern Africa, and spent last summer overlanding through national parks in the Western US. At home I travel in my Subaru Forester (named Forrest) and rooftop tent, and abroad I've rented a variety of vehicles to get me around!

Weekly Feature: Janneke Visser of Gravel for Breakfast

I am Dutch, 33 years old and during my office life I work as a Packaging Designer. I love to go for a run or do a sweaty workout in the gym. Holidays only last a couple of weeks which can make it impossible to do all the things you want to do. So, I parked all that for a 7 month sabbatical to take off on an epic overland journey from Amsterdam to Kathmandu.
